STATEMENT FROM EUGENE FORSEY LIBERAL, SELF-DECLARED NATIONAL BLOGGER OF THE LIBERAL LEADERSHIP AND BIENNIAL CONVENTION

On February 27, 2009 the nomination period for the Liberal Leadership contest came to an end, in accordance with the wishes of the most important factions of the elites within the party, namely Quebec nationalists, decentralists, wannabe Conservatives, Likudniks, business interests and all those opposed to coherent environmental policy and in favour of allowing self-regulation by the oil companies. After the close of the 2006 leadership convention, Michael Ignatieff was the only Leadership contestant considered to comply with the Rule of Kowtowing to Above-mentioned Factions, established by these same factions.

As the only such candidate, the 2006 contest was decided inconclusive and the factions conspired daily to unseat the putative leader, Stéphane Dion, who was, after all, only elected through an actual legitimate democratic process by the MEMBERSHIP, and thus lacked all legitimacy in comparison with Mr. Ignatieff and the small powerful group of elites that support him. As the Constitution of the Liberal Party of Canada makes quite clear, all elected leaders are subject to political assassination at the hands of insiders should said insiders feel their personal ambitions & political philosophies are being overlooked in the wider interests of the membership & Canadians, who, as the Constitution makes quite clear, are irrelevant.

Mr. Ignatieff’s Leadership will be officially confirmed by the assembled apparatchiks at the Leadership and Biennial Convention to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from April 30 – May 2, 2009, unless, of course, there's an election, in which case the party will be led by the unelected Mr. Ignatieff as we fall to inglorious defeat as Liberal-Conservatives.

Mr. Ignatieff wishes to thank all those who worked so hard to undermine Stéphane Dion and conspired to give him the leadership on a platter, without having to suffer the messiness & uncertainty of an actual election (look what happened last time, ha ha. Ah, the membership, poor fools). He calls on all Liberals to come together and join him in fighting for the oil sands, conservative budgets & neo-conservative foreign policy. Mr. Ignatieff asks Liberals to remember their motto: "A Party of anonymous sources, by anonymous sources, for anonymous sources."

I'm not going to bother doing this all the time, but just to illustrate my point, Spector makes the following points: "Canada is in the process of aligning its foreign policy with the US to a degree not seen since the days of Brian Mulroney and Ronald Reagan.(...) Iggy & Oilsands - Are We Libs Down With This?

It's one thing to go trolling for votes in Alberta. It's another to become the Alberta Suns' new best friend. So the National Geographic expose leads to "Ignatieff is positioning himself as a staunch defender of the Alberta oilsands. He’s brushing aside a 20-page spread in National Geographic magazine that outlines environmental concerns around the northern Alberta industry. He says the oilsands need to be made more sustainable, but he’s proud of the industry and called it a world leader. That’s a switch from previous Liberal policy that suggested Canada should stop subsidizing the oilsands and focus on alternative sources of fuel."

To review: We're now in bed with Pablo & his nationalist friends. And NF&L MPs can ignore 3-line whip votes to appease provincial sensitivities. And the Oil Sands are A-OK. And we're happy to stay in Afghanistan as long as the USA wants us there (oh, it'll become "humanitarian work" that happens to need military protection...). And the Con budget which indeed attacks pay equity & environmental reviews and does little to improve EI to help the unemployed and stimulate countercyclical demand? We're in favour. Have I forgotten anything?

What next, imitate the Canadian conservatives by changing our name to something less controversial, like the Conservative Liberal Party? I mean, if we're Blue-Lite, why not go all the way, eh?

Brits se souviennent, and there will be more like this. Dismiss it at your peril - there will be more from the UK.

SICKENING: Harper Cons Ditch Africa

Even Ivison agrees this is bad & stupid. Ivison! I have rarely been more sickened by the government of my country. I really really hate these Harper Cons. But having the elite impose Ignatieff on my party is no way to motivate me & others to go door to door. And running a "Blue-Lite" campaign, as we seem to want to, didn't work for McGuinty in 1999 and it won't work for us federally. Keith Davey, the real one, always said that given the choice between a fake (Liberal) conservative and a real one, people will always choose the real one. But with Iggy as leader, what choice does the party have? Can hardly pretend to be a patriot who's chosen to stay home and fight for country's best interests, like Pearson, Trudeau & Chrétien, when he's spent 30 years skiving off to suck up to chattering classes in UK & USA, can he? So we sleepwalk to further perdition while the Cons disgrace Canada. O for heavens' sake, will no-one rid us of our irksome Harper & Iggy? Layton is an unprincipled buffoon, Bloc are separatists and Greens aren't serious enough yet. So I guess only choice is to fight within the LPC to restore democracy and a legitimate, real liberal, leadership. Easy peasy: for an encore we'll bring peace to the world. Ah well, a man's gotta do...
