Begone Con Scum!

I was glad to note that the Con scummery was prominent in the evening news tonight, CBC, CTV, Radio-Canada, everywhere. I've mentioned this stuff elsewhere before. The ConScum must go. But MulrIggy?! By the way, who's been the LPC's lonely point man on this issue for months now anyway? Anyway, here's what I said a week ago - note the line re. rotten boroughs...
Actually, this is exactly the kind of interviewing we need more of in Canada. OF COURSE the logo was modelled on the Cons' - have you all not been following the culture of fear and intimidation in Ottawa? The worst part is how it was the makers' themselves who came up with the Con-inspired logo themselves. Have you all not noticed how all the government documents and ads starting sporting blue in January 2006 and have been getting increasingly blue ever since, until we have blatantly partisan Con ads appearing as GoC "Economic Update" ads now? I remember hearing a DG talk about this phenomenon in Feb 2006 - everyone was laughing and he was saying, "no, really, you're laughing, but this incredibly important - first thing you do when there's a change of govt is change the colours to fit the new bosses', etc.". Some will say Libs have same effect, or NDP provincially. Doubtless. Still terribly wrong, this self-censorship/ingratiation. Like steering money to Govt held ridings...rotten politics=rotten boroughs. As for interviewing, excellent, and funny - available to watch anywhere? Some Helpful Advice

Last week, I wrote an unexpected comment about the possibility the LPC might try talking about financial position of the government in a mature manner. Still good advice. Here it is, edited: This may surprise you, but I think Iggy & Co. are right about this one. I hope this is indeed the track taken. This changes nothing about my view of Iggy, but the right thing is the right thing. If this is the course pursued, I would predict three stages, potentially:
a) admiring coverage at first - increased popularity
b) followed by attacks (taxes! cuts!) which are amped by usual sources - decreased popularity
c) depending how well Lib team maintains tone "we're adults" and communicates, if hang on, will end up winners on this crucial issue, around which next election will probably be fought.
I say three stages because if fold or lose message after stage II of attacks, then all is lost. But potentially big winner. Would be nice if also some honesty about need for carbon taxing and controlling oil sands emissions. Doubtful though.

Addendum: I was disappointed to see the OLO folded the very next day. But only political junkies noticed, so could still try a second lift-off. Anyone noticed how they're doing things in the UK? All three parties openly arguing over post-recession plan.
