Khadr: CONSULAR Matter, Not Foreign Policy

Keep it straight. I see Spector engaging in usual obfuscation, & SCC ignorant - duped by Govt jive. But strictly speaking, Khadr is a CONSULAR matter, and not foreign affairs. That was why I mentioned human rights instead of foreign affairs in original reaction. He's our citizen, we have obligation to act for him, and nothing about his case involves actual foreign policy - Afghan strategy, anti-terrorism tactics, etc.. I know most, other than Pardy, are too scared-polite to say this out loud, but it's the simple truth. Is it foreign policy when Canadian on death row? No, consular. But I realise that's a distinction beyond most Canadians, incl. judges, it seems. But Spector should know, and if he were being honest, say so. Others (US Defence) may want to try to make it/portray it/play it as foreign policy, given their own agendas. But it is not. State Dept knows it, & DFAIT knows it. And they should say so.
